Golf Assessment: Injury & Performance

A Golf Assessment at Melbourne CBD Physio incorporates a physical screening specifically targeting golf-related movements. Tim Sayer and Chris Hibbert are certified Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) practitioners and have a passion in rehabilitating and increasing performance for golfers of all levels.

What is a golf assessment?

A golf assessment at Melbourne CBD Physio begins with a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) screening that identifies areas of the body that may be limiting your swing.

We assess swing mechanics, biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality, current health and a client history. We don’t believe there’s one way to swing a club, but there is an efficient way for every player.

We conduct a comprehensive strength assessment through our VALD Performance ForceDecks and ForceFrame equipment to identify weaknesses putting you at risk of injury or limiting performance. This assessment is also a fantastic way to benchmark your strength and measure progress as you continue improving your game.

Beyond performance measuring equipment, we’ll perform our own physical assessment that summarises your strengths and weaknesses. We will then build an exercise and treatment plan for you to conquer your game!

Why do I need a golf assessment?

Golf assessments from a qualified Melbourne CBD physiotherapist are high in demand. A golf assessment at Melbourne CBD physio is a chance for you to be screened by a professional and provide insight to your game.

A number of factors have ushered the need for robust golf injury prevention and analysis: growth in golf participation, the desire to hit further, the shift in PGA tour players and needing to play several rounds of golf.

We know golfers are fanatics, who will spend time and money on clubs, lessons and numerous buckets of driving range balls to improve. You should consider how your physical condition may be limiting your golf play.

Why choose Melbourne CBD Physio for a golf assessment?

Once this screen is finished, the results are used to create a plan unique for that golfer. The plan may include fitness training, physical therapy and treatment, coaching of swing mechanics and biomechanics, nutrition, mental strategy or all of the above.

Both practitioners will work closely with your golf professional, coach, personal trainers and other medical professionals to provide you with a goal orientated program that aligns with their philosophy, remove restrictions, decrease pain and to improve your play.

Physio For Golfers' Elbow & More at the Titleist Performance Institute

The TPI seeks to educate golfers in the importance of the body and the way it impacts the golf swing. For many golfers, pain and stiffness can impinge their game – and sometimes the way they play can cause pain and stiffness. We know that all golfers will benefit from a healthy body and efficient biomechanics, so through our techniques, we aim to improve all aspects of the game.

Whether you need physio for golfers elbow or just help to improve your overall game, our TPI physiotherapists can work with you as an individual. There is an infinite number of swing styles, and the only difference for you is the way in which your body works to make your swing. Your body efficiency is unique to you – and therefore making it work better can only improve your game.

To begin your journey, we screen you to assess your swing mechanics and movement. This ties in with your physical fitness and current health. We then learn about your movement quality, any relevant history, and what you want to achieve.

The Golf Physio Journey

Once we have completed the screening process, we use the results to create a unique and individualised plan that addresses fitness training, physical therapy and treatment (the ‘hands-on’ physiotherapy that you might immediately think of), coaching of swing mechanics and biomechanics, swing power and capacity and just as importantly accuracy. We are also well-placed to work closely with other professionals – whether that is your golf pro or any other medical professionals.

We create a goal-orientated program that is designed to remove your restrictions, decrease any pain or stiffness, and improve your overall play. Speak to the professionals in the world of physio for golf and work with Melbourne CBD Physiotherapy to improve your golf game today.
