Jessica Rothwell is a dedicated and Advanced Sports Dietitian whose professional drive is rooted in her personal achievements in international race walking. Her deep understanding of the nutritional demands of athletes has guided her to focus her career on developing effective and tailored nutrition strategies that align with individual lifestyle and competitive goals. This passion for enhancing athlete health and performance also stems from her childhood experiences on a dairy farm.

Currently, Jessica holds the prestigious role of National High Performance Nutrition Lead for Athletics Australia. In this capacity, she has significantly contributed to the success of Australian athletes at major international events, including the 2019 and 2022 World Athletics Championships, Commonwealth Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Her expertise is widely recognised, and she plays a critical role at the Victorian Institute of Sport, working with athletes in the Athletics Program and previously Women’s Hockey.

Jessica enjoys collaborating with individuals from all backgrounds, helping them to develop realistic and effective nutritional strategies that boost (optimise) both their health and athletic performance. Jessica is also committed to adolescent nutrition and health, guiding young athletes through the critical stages of their development. Her expertise is particularly strong in addressing Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S), low energy availability, and gut health concerns, areas crucial for maintaining athlete well-being and performance. Furthermore, Jessica is adept at managing eating disorders and disordered eating among athletes, helping individuals restore and maintain a healthy relationship with their food. Additionally, she is skilled in managing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), including advising on Low FODMAP diets, and addressing food intolerances and sensitivities, ensuring that each athlete can perform at their best without dietary discomfort.
