What is a sports massage?
Sports massages involve the manipulation of soft tissue. The soft tissue in our bodies includes the skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Manipulating this tissue in the right way, i.e. by massage, corrects problems and imbalances caused by strenuous activity like exercise. Sports massage can be used both before and after exercise to improve performance, aid recovery and prevent injury and pain. Many different techniques are utilised during a sports massage. Our expertly trained team will adapt to the needs and desires of your specific treatment goals.

What Exercise Physiology Can Treat
Chronic Disease Management
Exercise Physiologists are skilled in knowing the effect exercise has on the reduction or reversal of disease progression, making exercise physiology one of the most impactful things you can do if you suffer from chronic disease.
Chronic diseases are long lasting conditions that have an extraordinary impact on the body and quality of life. Chronic diseases can develop at any age, have complex causes and rick factors, and will usually progress gradually. Some examples of chronic disease include:
- Lung and respiratory conditions eg. asthma
- Cardiovascular conditions
- Mental Illness
- Chronic pain e.g. fibromyalgia
Women’s Health is an area of expertise in Exercise Physiology that can address a wide range of health conditions and life stages for women ranging from puberty, preganancy, postpartum and menopause. Exercise is an important therapeutic intervention for the prevention and improvement of other women’s health issues such as endometriosis, PCOS, pelvic floor and incontinence.
Over 1.2 million Australians have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. Women and men can be affected, with over 75% of cases being women. People 50+ are an at-risk group, however depending on risk factors, osteoporosis can occur in younger populations.
As part of a healthy lifestyle, exercise is critical to keeping your body strong and capable. If you have, or are at risk of osteoporosis, Exercise Physiology is highly recommended to help keep you active, supported and decrease your risk of falling.
Low Back Pain
Low back pain can be acute or chronic and has the potential to be extremely debilitating to your everyday function. An Accredited Exercise Physiologist can help design an individual and graduated exercise and strength program to help lift your body out of pain and back to confidence in your lifestyle and sports.
Pre and Post Operative
Clinical research demonstrates that preparing your body appropriately for surgery with a tailored and structured exercise program significantly decreases your recovery time post surgery.
Similarly, undertaking an individually-designed rehabilitation program from your Exercise Physiologist post-surgery is imperative to ensure the best recovery possible.
General Health, Fitness and Wellbeing
Exercise is critical in boosting our mood, concentration and alertness, and improves our cardiovascular and overall physical health. Starting a new exercise program can be daunting. An Exercise Physiologist is the perfect starting point to help improve your general health and wellbeing, no matter what stage of life or fitness level you are at.
