Lateral Hip Pain

Gluteal tendinopathy is the most common cause of lateral (outside) hip pain, affecting women more than men over the age of 45 years old. Symptoms normally develop due to compression of the tendon on the bony part of the lateral hip. This is often due to loss of strength around the hip, leading to irritation of the tendon and resulting in pain with deep sitting, standing on one leg, walking down hills, walking after periods of rest, and sleeping on the hip during the night.

Our team of highly regarded Melbourne CBD Physiotherapists can diagnosis and help with the management of lateral hip pain. Our physios do this by educating patients on positions that will be provocative, what types of load tendons will respond to, as well as what methods can be successfully used for pain management and create patient independence.
